Right then...they made me into a liar!

So, a few posts down I gave a little pitch for Empty Chamber and said I didn't have anything to do with it and that I just thought it was a good book that deserves attention.

Well, now I'm lettering it! That's two books I'm doing at Silent Devil Productions ... Empty Chamber and Drunken Monkey. Now I just need to score myself 4 or 5 more books over there and I'll be on my way to taking over!

The pic on the right is an image Jason had posted at the SD forums, thought it made a fun image for the blog. **CLICK IT ALREADY!!**

Empty Chamber is written by A. David Lewis, drawn by Jason Copland with Grayscales by Jennifer Rodgers and lettered by The Mad Alaskan!

Ads, ads, ads...

So, Ed's doing a few "retro" issues of DWP, harkening back to the old days of superhero stuff. As part of the retro look he decided to do a page of all those little ads like they used to do. Charles Atlas guaranteeing to make a man out of you, stamp collecting kits, kits to build your own mini-bike or go-cart, sea monkeys... things like that. Oh, and of course, X-RAY SPECS!!

Anyway, he wanted do do a big page full of these little ads but instead of just mocking some up he opened it up for people to run real ads. I did one for myself and then a couple for a couple of the fellas. They were fun to whip up. (Click 'em to enlarge)

Other than that just doing some lettering and gearing up for some cool new lettering projects to start. Also have a new writing project, some sci-fi, that I hope will get started soon...already have an artist ready to go.

Drunken Monkey @ Newsarama

There's a 5-page preview of Drunken Monkey #1 over at Newsarama....go check it out! I don't think any of these pages have been posted on my blog, so it'll be stuff you haven't seen!

In other news I'm in discussions to be lettering SEVERAL new projects, many of them under one roof. And hopefully I'll have more on my own projects soon.

Oh, and hopefully before the week is out those NOTHINGFACE, BLACK WATCH and GLADIATRIX links over on the right will actually lead somewhere!

Spring is damn near here and it's getting harder and harder to concentrate! After a long Alaskan winter you tend to want to be outside doing anything BUT work when it starts to warm up. The dogs and cat (down to one cat, the OLD one had to be put down a couple weeks ago) are at that stage where they beg and beg to go out because it's all sunny but it's still only up in the 50's so they start whining to come in before long.....then half an hour later they start wanting out again. Repeat that for most of the day...annoying. Ain't pets grand.

Empty Chamber

"So, Kel, what do you have to do with this new book Empty Chamber?"

"Not a damned thing actually."

"Then why are we reading about it on your blog?"

"Cuz my pal and future Nothingface collaborator Jason Copland is drawing it!!"

CHECK OUT THE PRESS RELEASE:

Los Angeles, CA: Silent Devil has entered into an agreement to publish Empty Chamber, a two-issue, action-espionage mini-series from A. David Lewis, Jason Copland and Caption Box. Empty Chamber centers on a conspiracy theorist and his mercenary protector; they are the country's only hope in stopping a renegade American general from committing a puzzling genocide - one without firing a bullet, releasing a bomb or shedding one drop of blood.

Empty Chamber features writer A. David Lewis (The Lone and Level Sands at Archaia Studios Press, Mortal Coils and Silent Devil's webcomic, Out of Sequence), artist Jason Copland (Hoarse and Buggy's Western Tales of Terror) and grayscales by Jennifer Rodgers (Buzzboy and The Lone and Level Sands). "After working with Jason on Mortal Coils, I brought the idea of Empty Chamber to Christian Beranek at Silent Devil. I wanted to do a project that was not only fun and exciting, but would appeal to the sort of broad audience that enjoys 24," says Lewis.

Silent Devil plans to release the first installment of Empty Chamber this fall. Visit Caption Box's website at www.captionbox.net, Jason Copland's website at www.jasoncopland.com and Silent Devil's website at www.silentdevil.com for future updates on Empty Chamber.

Over there on the right in the sidebar somewhere is a link for Jason's blog. Go poke around over there and you'll find various Empty Chamber work in progress. Good stuff!

Just mucking about

So, you probably noticed the new header. Took me way to long to figure that out but it was all just trial and error with the code since I know absolutely JACK about code. Also added a store link in the sidebar, which is active and some project logos that will eventually be links to info on those projects. No time for that today.

One thing that sort of threw a monkey-farmin' wrench into the happy dance I was doing when I finally figured it out is that I seem to have somehow LOST the little links at the bottom of each post that allow one to click it and send an email to someone about the post as well as the handy editing link so I can go in and fix all my monkey-farmin' typos right from the main blog. Oh, well. I can hopefully figure out how to get them back....when I have the time. EDIT: Heh...I fixed it. I erased one piece of code I wasn't supposed to.

And yes, "monkey-farmin'" is my new favorite clean phrase used to replace a dirty phrase. If you don't like it...stay off my monkey-farmin' blog, punk!

Buncha no good monkey-farmers giving ME crap about MY blog....
