MORE new art!

Okay, so I got the first set of pages from Lee Ferguson for his Nothingface story!

The first three pages are set in current times, the rest is a flashback to the Cold War era. We're doing kind of a Connery era James Bond thing on this one. Action and sex....but it's fairly "clean" sex like in an old James Bond flick. I kinda want to drop the "hook" for this story but I think I should wait until we get closer to it coming out. As usual, click 'em to see 'em bigger!

New art!

I can't believe it's been a week and a half since I posted anything. Been busy, lots of lettering and a little bit of writing. JD was bugging me this morning to get some new Trailer Park stuff lettered just so I'd have something to post! (Check for that tomorrow or the next day)

In the meantime...Dan sent me some new Nothingface pages!! Here's a couple of them for you to check out!(Click 'em to see 'em bigger)

Snippets galore!

Okay, not much to post. Pretty much worked all weekend...some lettering, some writing and some organizing of my work area (new bookcase!). Wait, that's not true. I went out on Saturday.

Anyway, no big news but I want to keep something posted here for you regulars who check it out (even those of you who live right here in my area but never write or call but find time to lurk my blog a few times a week. Isn't it interesting to be able to track your site traffic?) ;) So, since I STILL don't have anymore artwork from my own books to show off yet, I figured I'd drop some pieces of pages from books I've been lettering lately. Of course, you can click them to see 'em bigger.

This first image is from a period piece action/adventure book. It's taken a while to get rolling on this one, working out little details and designing a logo and everything...I don't usually deal with logos...but I think we're pretty much ready to get started "for real." No details to reveal yet.

These two are from a fantasy book...again, no details yet.

This is another chunk from Pierce soon to be published by Imperium Comics. I showed some of this book before so I hope JD doesn't mind me "leaking" a little more of the first issue.

Samurai Champloo

I just watched the series finale of the awesome anime series SAMURAI CHAMPLOO last night on Adult Swim. I hated to see it end, it's a damned good show. The last anime series I liked this much was COWBOY BEBOP....so, of course, it makes perfect sense that when I go looking for DVD info I learn CHAMPLOO is the series that the BEBOP creators moved on to when it was finished!

The amination on both shows is good and the storytelling is very engaging. I'm able to get into these stories and characters more than half the "real" TV shows the networks put out. And one of the biggest tests is that with both series, when they ended I found myself disappointed there wouldn't be any more. I guess I need to do a little looking and find out what these guys are working on next.

Now I need to get these series on DVD! Looks like BEBOP is available in a box set of the entire series...if you can find it. CHAMPLOO is available on 7 DVDs with an average price around 25 bucks. Needless to say I won't be buying them anytime soon. If anybody feels the need to buy me a truly kickass present, I have a birthday coming up.....in five months. :D

Aaaaaaaanyway....been working a lot lately. Really only took off one day in the past couple weeks. Been doing a lot of lettering, working on a logo for one of my new gigs and trying to put as much time into my own writing as possible and trying to get some things done around the house. Keeping me busy. Cranking out Lost Squad #4 letters last night...

And finally...iTunes strikes again!!! Bastards! This morning I bought...DISTURBED: Ten Thousand Fists and 10 YEARS: Autumn Effect. Ten Thousand Fists came with a PDF of the CD booklet, which is cool cuz I love reading liner notes and it features artwork by comic stars McFarlane and Capullo. It also came with a video for "Stricken." I am SO not buying anything else for a month! At least. No going out, no renting movies...nuthin'. I have comic art to pay for!

iTunes, Big Norma and Crash

iTunes is evil....makes it way too easy to buy music. No running out to the mall, no ordering online and waiting for it to come in the mail. You just hear a song on MTV or the radio and you go look it up and BOOM you can't resist just buying the album. Just yesterday I bought Flyleaf, Slave to the System and Simple Plan. Slave to the System is a side project of Scott Rockenfield, the drummer of Queensryche...one of my favorite bands.

Could I really afford the 30 bucks right now? Not really, I've pissed away a LOT of money the past 8 months or so. But iTunes makes it so damned EASY!!! Al the albums are pretty good. Mostly fast paced music, good stuff to listen to while working.

Hmmm....wondering I can write it off?? HA! Yeah, I don't think I'll try that.

In my previous post there was a TINY image of the cover of Trailer Park of Terror...JD from Imperium sent over a larger version for me to post. So, here's Norma in all her creepy glory! Ain't she purty! Nelson has done some really beautiful covers for Trailer Park...as beautiful as zombies and undead chicks and demons can be, I guess.

And finally, Crash won best picture at the Oscars. I discussed the flick in an earlier post. Look at the movies up for best picture....now tell me liberal Hollyweird doesn't use the Oscars to try and push their agenda. Not saying those movies aren't well made, but the box office results make it pretty clear these aren't the movies that the PEOPLE actually want. As hard as the industry pushes these movies and as much attention as the media gives them....it's kind of surprising (or maybe not) that none of them is doing crap as far as making money.

Hi-ho, hi-ho it's off to work I go...

That image in just there to get your attention. It's from a two-issue kid-friendly mini I just finished...of course it's one of those things I can't show off or even give the name of yet.

In the last few days a picked up a couple more jobs...and again, I can't really share much. One is a Revolutionary War era superhero/Zorro-ish kind of thing (but not), just picked this one up a couple days ago. The other is one I did the couple tryout pages for yesterday and was told I had the job today...high fantasy...magic and swordplay. Fun stuff. Hopefuly soon I'll have more lettered pages of various things I can show off.

One of the books I letter is available for preorder this month:
TRAILER PARK TERROR COLOR SPECIAL #4
Price:$3.99

Someone is telling all the secrets of the trailer park denizens and Norma isn`t happy about it. If anyone`s going to tell tales outside of school, it`s going to be her! So this month she lets loose tales of treacherous witches, blue-collar vampires, giant cockroaches, killer mushrooms, and a redneck zombie in women`s lingerie!
Product Code MAR063293
