Samurai Champloo
I just watched the series finale of the awesome anime series SAMURAI CHAMPLOO last night on Adult Swim. I hated to see it end, it's a damned good show. The last anime series I liked this much was COWBOY BEBOP....so, of course, it makes perfect sense that when I go looking for DVD info I learn CHAMPLOO is the series that the BEBOP creators moved on to when it was finished!
The amination on both shows is good and the storytelling is very engaging. I'm able to get into these stories and characters more than half the "real" TV shows the networks put out. And one of the biggest tests is that with both series, when they ended I found myself disappointed there wouldn't be any more. I guess I need to do a little looking and find out what these guys are working on next.
Now I need to get these series on DVD! Looks like BEBOP is available in a box set of the entire series...if you can find it. CHAMPLOO is available on 7 DVDs with an average price around 25 bucks. Needless to say I won't be buying them anytime soon. If anybody feels the need to buy me a truly kickass present, I have a birthday coming up.....in five months. :D
Aaaaaaaanyway....been working a lot lately. Really only took off one day in the past couple weeks. Been doing a lot of lettering, working on a logo for one of my new gigs and trying to put as much time into my own writing as possible and trying to get some things done around the house. Keeping me busy. Cranking out Lost Squad #4 letters last night...
And finally...iTunes strikes again!!! Bastards! This morning I bought...DISTURBED: Ten Thousand Fists and 10 YEARS: Autumn Effect. Ten Thousand Fists came with a PDF of the CD booklet, which is cool cuz I love reading liner notes and it features artwork by comic stars McFarlane and Capullo. It also came with a video for "Stricken." I am SO not buying anything else for a month! At least. No going out, no renting movies...nuthin'. I have comic art to pay for!
